Rent the Runway has raised an additional $125M to become NYC’s latest unicorn. The funding is co-led by Franklin Templeton Investments and Bain Capital Ventures with additional participation from funds and accounts advised by T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc. and Hamilton Lane Advisors, on behalf of New York State Common Retirement Fund. That’s right – anyone with NYS pension is now an indirect investor in Rent the Runway. Founded in 2009 by Jennifer Fleiss and Jennifer Hyman, Rent the Runway has now raised a total of $341.2M in reported equity funding with an additional $200M in debt financing from Temasek.

Direct-to-consumer beauty company Glossier has raised an additional $100M. This round comes at a reported $1.2B post-money valuation and was led by Sequoia Capital with participation from Tiger Global Management, Spark Capital, and existing investors Forerunner Ventures, Thrive Capital, IVP, and Index Ventures. Founded by Emily Weiss in 2014, Glossier has now raised a total of $186.4M in reported equity funding.

Founded in 2013 by Matt Aimonetti and Steve Martocci (Blade and GroupMe), Splice has now raised a total of $105.22M in reported equity funding.

Small Door Veterinary is a high-end veterinary care startup that will be launching in NYC soon. It was founded by Josh Guttman (Partner at SoftBank) and Florent Peyre (Cofounder of Placemeter which was acquired by Netgear). Small Door has reportedly raised $3.5M in funding led by Lerer Hippeau Ventures, and including participation from Primary Ventures, Brand Foundry and Lee Fixel of Tiger Global Management.

Maude is the Brooklyn based, personal care and wellness brand selling massage candles, personal massagers, latex condoms and more. Maude was founded in 2017 byDina Epstein and Eva Goicochea, and it has now raised $2.1M across two rounds.

According to a recent SEC filing, Podia, the platform that allows people to sell online courses, memberships, and digital downloads to their audiences, has raised an additional $1M in funding. The filing indicates that there were five participants in the round. Podia, which was founded by Spencer Fry in 2014, had previously raised $1.6M in reported equity funding and counts Notation Capital as one of its investors.

FLEXX, a newly formed entity from Trace VFX cofounders Jonathan Mason and Varun Parange, has raised $685K in financing in the form of a SAFE note according to a recent SEC filing.

According to a recent SEC filing, Good Uncle, the food delivery app focused on the college market, has raised $637K in additional funding in what appears to be a convertible note. The filing indicates that there were five participants in this close and the total offering is for $1.5M. Good Uncle previously closed $11.2M in equity funding over two rounds (2017 and 2016) and a debt round of $2.1M in 2016. Good Uncle was founded by Wiley Cerrilli and Matt Doumar in 2015. Investors in previous rounds include First Round Capital, Pritzker Group Venture Capital, Brainchild Holdings, Melo7 Tech Partners, Jason Finger, Charge Ventures, and Armory Square Ventures.

A newly formed entity called Chronosphere has closed $335K in funding in what appears to be a convertible note according to a recent SEC filing. The filing indicates that there were seven participants in the round, which is fully closed, and lists Martin Chen Mao and Robert James Skillington as Executives. Skillington is listed on as having worked on several patents for a medical device company called CliniCloud.
