With so much going on in the city’s thriving ecosystem, it is easy to miss some of the happenings in the space. We keep you abreast of the things that you may have missed in NYC Tech News for the week ending 5/27 including the NYC startup fundings, NYC startup exits, and NYC startup events featuring news for Unlimited Funds, BBy, and much, much more.


OpenFin – $35M

OpenFin, an operating system for the financial services industry, has raised $35M in Series D funding led by Bank of America. Founded by Chuck Doerr and Mazy Dar in 2010, OpenFin has now raised a total of $82M in reported equity funding.


FlowX.AI – $35M

FlowX.AI, an-AI powered platform for the modernization of applications used in the financial services industry, has raised $35M in Series A funding led by Dawn Capital. Founded by Ioan Iacob and Serban Chiricescu in 2019, FlowX.AI has now raised a total of $43.5M in reported equity funding.


Milk Bar – $22.3M

Milk Bar, the popular desert and bakery chain, has raised $22.3M in funding according to a recent SEC filing. The filing indicates that the total offering is for $27.8M and there were ten investors in this close. Founded by Christina Tosi in 2008, Milk Bar has now raised a total of $54.3M in reported equity funding.

Vox Funding – $10M

Vox Funding, a working capital platform for small businesses, has raised $10M in funding according to a recent SEC filing. The filing indicates that the total offering is for $25M and this close comes from a sole investor. Founded by Adam Benowitz and Louis Calderone in 2018, Vox Funding has now raised a total of $15.5M in reported equity funding.


Unlimited Funds – $8M

Unlimited Funds, a startup that’s using machine learning to build ETFs that provide makes exposure to alternative alternatives accessible for retail investors, has raised $8M in Series A funding from investors that include FirstMark, Material, and Citi Ventures. Unlimited Funds was founded by Bruce McNevin and Bob Elliott in 2022. We broke the news of this round last week but wanted to add some more information about the investors in the round.

Opus – $6.8M

Opus, a training platform for frontline teams, has raised $6.8M in Series A funding led by Stage 2 Capital. Founded by Jeffrey Silver, Kai Yen, and Rachael Nemeth in 2018, Opus has now raised a total of $11.4M in reported equity funding.


Sixfold – $6.5M

Sixfold, a generative AI platform for the insurance industry, has raised $6.5M in funding according to a recent SEC filing funding from investors that include Bessemer Venture Partners and Crystal Venture Partners. Sixfold was founded by Brian Moseley, Jane Tran, and Alex Schmelkin in 2023.


BBy – $3M

BBy, a startup that is condensing breast milk from nursing mothers to be used in hospital settings to increase access without relying on freezers, has raised $3M in Seed funding from investors that include Y Combinator, Pioneer Fund, Cathexis Ventures, and 7G Bioventures. Founded by Vansh Langer in 2017, BBy has now raised a total of $3.2M in reported equity funding.
