MedPilot, an engagement platform for patients and healthcare institutions to manage medical bills, has been acquired by Hoboken-based Vytalize Health, a provider of value-based healthcare practice management platform focused on Medicare patients. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The transaction has been approved by both companies’ Boards of Directors subject to shareholder approval and is expected to close in the coming days. “It didn’t take long working with Vytalize to see that our companies coming together was a clear 1+1=3 scenario,” said MedPilot CEO Jake Myers.

Founded by Myers, Jordan Brown, Leonard Law, Matt Buder Shapiro, and Rakinur Alam in 2014, MedPilot had raised a total of $3.5M in reported equity funding. Investors in the company include Techstars, Plug and Play, JumpStart, Blueprint Health, North Coast Ventures, Cedars-Sinai Accelerator, Cedars-Sinai Accelerator, Wavemaker 360, Hudson River Capital Partners, Valley Growth Ventures, and Tom Hirschfeld.  35 employees of MedPilot including the management team will join Vytalize.

“As we grew our ACO and began enhancing our infrastructure for Medicare’s Direct Contracting program, our vertically integrated care delivery system needed a solution for last-mile patient engagement,” said Vytalize CEO Faris Ghawi. “We couldn’t have asked for a better technology and team to fill this need. It’s been a pleasure to work together, and we are thrilled to deploy many more solutions through this platform to improve the patient experience and health outcomes while lowering healthcare costs.”
