7 Ways to Invest In Travel in 2018

Traveling is reaching a peak nowadays. Everyone is longing for those few days of peace and quiet when they are far away from all their worries. Traveling is an escape – something that you rarely do at home.

On the other hand, for those who aren’t doing the traveling, but arranging it, this can be a very profitable business. With so many tourists pushing themselves to go places, there’s no better industry to invest in. If this idea seems attractive to you, here are some effective ways to invest and turn your business into a beaming success:

  1. Online Travel Platforms

In the past, when people wanted to book a plane ticket or get an offer for a travel package in another country, they would go to an agency. It seemed like the logical way, considering that it’s always better to get info straight from the horse’s mouth.

The problem with agencies nowadays, however, is that you barely have time to drop by. Working hours are usually the same everywhere – from 8 AM to 5 PM or so – and when you get off work, you can be sure that the travel agents just got off as well.

In these cases, online travel platforms such as Bookmundi, for example, are a gift sent from the heavens. Not only can you book tickets in the middle of the night if you have to, but they always have all the details that you need. And the more you invest in maintaining an effective travel platform, the more customers you will get.

  1. Niches

Everyone likes traveling, that’s for certain. However, instead of focusing on the usual “whatever destination works,” you might want to settle on a niche. What do people seem to want more when it comes to destinations? Do they want to go on some tropical island to get a nice tan while enjoying a margarita on the beach? Or do they find more comfort in cold climates where they can sky their heart out? You should know your customers.

Focusing on a niche will raise your popularity. Instead of being like every other travel company out there, you will be the one to turn to for that particular kind of trip.

  1. Cruising

The cruising industry is not that young; in fact, it’s fairly old. Since the ‘90s until now, only 4% of the Americans would choose cruises for their vacations. Still, slowly but surely, that percentage is going up.

Over the last few years, the percentage started growing by at least 5% per year, and cruising seems to be a more and more attractive investment. If it keeps going this way, most travelers will either choose cruises over anything else or combine it with sightseeing in other countries.

  1. Hotels

Owning a hotel is probably one of the best ways to invest in travel – pretty much because everyone needs a place to stay. Today’s hotel industry is dominated by a few big names such as Starwood Hotels or Hilton, which means that you can hit success no matter if you are publicly traded or private.

You may start with a simple hotel with attractive prices – but you should make sure it’s as close to the main touristic spots as possible. Most of the time, people are happy to trade luxury for access – and as long as they don’t have to pay a lot of money for cabs, they will definitely return.

  1. Travel Apps

As we already mentioned above, more and more people prefer doing things remotely rather than going to an agency. Furthermore, considering the boom in smartphones, everyone seems to prefer them over desktops and laptops.

A travel app may not necessarily bring you direct money – but it will bring you customers. People like it when they have everything at hand, literally at the touch of a screen. It also makes it easy for them if they are continuously on the road. It’s a great method of offering assistance to your clients – therefore making them come back to you for a second trip.

  1. Casinos

Las Vegas is already popular around the world for its casinos – and lately, more and more people seem to enjoy this “sport” as well. Sure, gambling is risky, but what’s a vacation without a little bit of adrenaline? This is exactly why people find casinos so attractive; and this turns them into a great investment for people like you.

Just look at Asia; gambling has expanded so much there, that Macao became the second Las Vegas. This growth in gambling companies is spreading in other areas such as Singapore, Japan, and Vietnam as well – making them real honey for the tourists.

  1. Mega Resorts

While hotels are crucial for every traveler, more and more people nowadays are going for megaresorts. These places combine the advantages of a hotel with the amenities and entertainment of a big city. The more activities it has, the more travelers you will draw – and the more money will be flowing.

You may want to invest in a resort that has a certain theme. Take, for example, the Walt Disney specialized entertainment complex; it’s bound to attract many kids (and not only) who are just itching to try out every ride.

Plus, if your budget allows you to cover wide areas, you might want to go for themes such as skiing resorts or – why not – a beach area. If the season is right, it will definitely bring you clients from all over the world.

Final Thoughts

These are only a few of the many opportunities that you may use as investment ideas starting 2018. The travel industry is growing more by the year – and it’s not only in the United States anymore. It’s everywhere!

When you start investing, make sure it’s in something that a traveler might look for – but go for something that is also unique. People like the idea of adventure, but they are still reluctant to go for things that are out of their comfort zone.
