1010data, the big data analytics company founded in 2000 was acquired for $500M by Advance Publications. The company founded by Sandy Steier and Joel Kaplan had raised a total of $35M in funding from Norwest Venture Partners.

Kay Koplovitz, one of the 100 Tech Influencers in New York, has announced the launch of the Springboard Fund. The fund will be used to invest in companies that have completed the Springboard Enteprise accelerator program and select companies that would qualify for the program.

Integral Ad Science, the valuation platform for digital advertising media, announced a $27M Series E round led by Sapphire Ventures. In conjunction with this announcement, the company also announced a $40M debt financing. The company founded by Will Luttrell, Kent Wakeford, Helene Monat has raised a total of $116.8M across 6 rounds since its founding in 2009.

FuboTV, the streaming internet subscription site for soccer content, has announced a $4M Series A round.   The company founded by Sung Ho Choi, David Gandler, Alberto Horihuela has now raised a toal of $6.3M across 3 rounds since its founding last summer. The investors in this latest round were Luminari Capital, LionTree Partners, I2BF Digital, and DCM Ventures.

NYC startup, Dataminr, the startup that analyzes tweets, was selected by the World Economic Forum as a part of the 2015 Class of Technology Pioneers.

Goop, the lifestyle and ecommerce site founded by actress Gwyenth Paltrow has raised a $10M Series A round led by New Enterprise Associates.

 


NYU’s Science of Smart Cities Summer STEM program

50 local Brooklyn middle school students presented their final projects as part of NYU’s Science of Smart Cities Summer STEM program. The students shared their ideas about how to build and design more livable, efficient, and resilient cities through elaborate model cities of their own. In addition to creating elaborate model cities, the students also created interactive devices made over the course of the summer including smart cars, hydro electric generators, and solar tiles. Students gave presentations to parents and friends about what they learned over the course of the program with projects dispersed among four NYU classrooms.

Socure, the identity fraud detection softare that integrates machine learning and social data, has announced a $2.5M debt financing.

Rebagg, the marketplace for used handbags has announced a $4M Seed round. The company founded in 2014 by Charles-Albert Gorra has now raised a total of $4.8M across two rounds. Investors in this round include Big Sur Ventures, Founder Collective, Crosslink Capital, Metamorphic Ventures, General Catalyst Partners, and FJ Labs.
