NYC Tech Week in Review.001

As expected, it was a holiday-shortened slower week in NYC.

With so much going on in the city’s thriving ecosystem, it is easy to miss some of the happenings in the space. We keep you abreast of a few of things that you may have missed in NYC Tech this week including the fundings, exits, and events.

NYC Tech Week in Review.006

One Month, the online platform that allows individuals to learn how to code and develop web applications has announced an $1.9M seed round. This round brings the total funding for One Month to $2.7M since participating in Y combinator in 2013. Participating in this round were Arena Ventures, Aslanoba Capital, Cornerstone On-Demand, Idea Bulb Ventures, and Wasabi Ventures.

Another Y-Comb alum, Smartspot, has raised an $1.85M round from Khosla Ventures and Signalfire. The company has created a smart “mirror” that monitors and tracks an individual’s workout with the use of 3d cameras and is now being presold to gyms at slightly under $5k per workstation.

 


NYC Tech Week in Review.004

Shapeways, the 3d printing marketplace connecting creators has announced a $30M Series D round.  With this round, the total funding raised by the company now sits at $78.5M.  Particiapting in the round were Hewlett Packard Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, Union Square Ventures, Presidio Ventures, and INKEF Capital.

Powertofly, the matching service focused on eliminating the gender gap through its platform that allows for flexible working conditions has announced a $6.5M Series A round led by Crosslink Capital.  Also participating in the round were Hearst Ventures and Lerer Hippeau Ventures.  The company has now raised $7.5M in total funding since its founding in 2014.
