Classpass, company with a membership program that allows you to take unlimited fitness classes across multiple gyms and studios for $99/month, has raised $40 million in Series B led by General Catalyst Partners and Thrive Capital, with participation from angels and previous investors.

We hear that Etsy, the peer-to-peer ecommerce site and app where people buy and sell handmade crafts and vintage items, is working on an IPO that may be the biggest technology IPO to come out of New York since 1999.
MongoDB, the next-generation database company that helps businesses transform their industries by harnessing the power of data, has raised $80 million in Series G funding from public market investors including T. Rowe Price and Fidelity Investments. Earlier investors Altimeter Capital, New Enterprise Associates and Sequoia Capital also participated in the round. This latest round may be delaying the company going public.
This week, we had a chance to hear what Kegan Schouwenburg, one of our 28 Hardware Innovators in NYC You Should Know, of SOLS is working on at the AngelVineVC event, a regular gathering of Founders, Senior Execs, Angels and VCs striving to strengthen the community of tech startups and growth companies, hosted by Ed Zimmerman, one of our 100 NYC Tech Influencers You Need to Know, of Lowenstein Sandler.
From the sound of it, custom 3-D printer enhanced orthotics shoes are not too far away on the horizon for widespread commercial availability.
MG Capital, the investment solutions arm of McCourt Global, has launched MGG Investment Group LP (MGG), a private, specialty finance group focused on direct lending to startups and small businesses.
Frank McCourt is the real estate developer who formerly owned the Los Angeles Dodgers. The company plans to lend to companies with $10 million to $40 million of EBITDA.
Whistle Sports, a sports and entertainment broadcaster geared towards Millennials and whose content largely appears on YouTube, has raised $28 million in Series B funding, led by Emil Capital Partners and Tangelmann Ventures.

VTS (formerly View The Space), the leading commercial real estate asset management and leasing platform, announced a $3.3M strategic investment from Blackstone Group LP’s real estate group (NYSE:BX). The partnership will provide VTS with ongoing support and expertise from Blackstone’s Real Estate and Innovations teams, and further solidify the company’s position as the market standard for tracking such data as tenants, rents, leases and deals in the pipeline, in real time.
Vimeo, the New York-based video sharing platform that allows users to upload, share and view high-definition videos, has entered a partnership with Disney-owned Maker Studios that will have Maker creators sell their content on Vimeo before making it available for free – with ads – on YouTube.
Maker Studios is currently YouTube’s biggest content network.
Boxed, a mobile ecommerce company that delivers wholesale club-like products to consumers’ front doors, all wrapped up in one neat, um, box, has raised $25 million in Series B funding led by GGV Capital and Digital Sky Technologies. Other participants in the round include Founders Fund, AME Cloud Ventures, Vaizra Investments, and previous investors, including Fabrice Grinda and Bassett Investment Group.
Dispop, whose online self-service display advertising and retargeting platform allows businesses to launch and manage effective advertising campaign, has been acquired by Admedo, a venture-backed U.K.-based company that helps advertisers and agencies to manage their programmatic advertising in-house. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
It was in October that AlleyWatch covered It’sgr82bme, a startup that helps small businesses connect to customers by offering consumers one central location to find family-friendly things to do and places to go, as well as products and services in their local communities or the places they’re visiting.
Itsgr82bme just became one of five company’s accepted into Constant Contact’s Small Business Innovation Program’s second class. The program is designed to support entrepreneurs and startups as they solve problems for small businesses.
