With so much going on in the city’s thriving ecosystem, it is easy to miss some of the happenings in the space.  We are introducing this new column to keep you abreast of a few of things that you may have missed in NYC Tech this week.


Heat Seek emerges as the winner in the BigApps Battlefield during the NYC Big Apps Block Party at Industry City.


 

Entrepreneurs Roundtable 72 featuring Marc Michel of Metamorphic Ventures, held at Microsoft.


 

 

Trello, the project management software, picked up a $10.3M Series A round from Spark Capital and Index Ventures.


 

 

Oyster, the Netflix for books, launched on mobile and web browsers .


 

 

VenueBook, the event booking and management platform has raised over $2M in seed funding. Investment came from Kindler Capital, Joanne Wilson, MI Ventures Cayuga Venture Fund, Victoria Grace and I2BF Global Ventures.


 

Foursquare changes it logo and launches a new discovery app – not bad for $162.4M in raised capital.


 

 

New York Fashion Tech Lab had its demo day for its inaugural class. You can read about all the companies here.

UrbanCompass, the real estate platform, picked up a $40M Series B round funded by .406 Ventures, Advance Publications, Founders Fund, Thrive Capital,  Kenneth Chenault and Marc Benioff.
