Today we take a look at the state of venture capital and angel funding during the all of June, both in New York and nationally. Analyzing some publicly available data from our friends at CrunchBase, we break down the national aggregate statistics for all funding deals by stage of funding (Angel/Seed, Series A, Series B, and Series C+).

Key Takeaways:

The number of deals nationally skyrocketed in June to 312 deals from May levels. New York remained relatively steady and did not participate in this upswing. As aggregate funding increased nationally, the average deal size did fall from May levels.

There was a sharp drop in the average Series A round in NYC in June which was influenced by two relatively small rounds. Also, the number of deals fell nearly 50% for the month.   Nationally, the number of Series A deals more than doubled, leading to a 58% increase in aggregate funding.

The number of Series B deals topped the billion dollar level in June, fueled by a massive increase in the number of financings.

The number of Series C+ deals fell nearly by a half in June. However, this was not reflected in aggregate funding as there was a near doubling.  *It is important to note that this national data is skewed by the Uber mega round, which is one of the largest rounds of all time, topping over $1B.
