COVID-19 is fueling a boom for cosmetic surgery and non-surgical cosmetic procedures as Zoom Dysmorphia is driving people to improve their appearances after staring at themselves on a screen for the better part of almost a year and half. In fact, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reports that 11% of women surveyed are more interested in cosmetic plastic surgery and non-surgical procedures now than before COVID. The numbers increase even further for those that have previously had procedures. Ever/Body is a provider of cosmetic dermatology services and beauty treatments in two sleek Manhattan locations (Flatiron and Soho). The company, founded in 2018, offers a full range of minimally invasive dermatological treatments including Botox, Fillers, Contouring, Laser Facials, Microneedling, and Laser Hair Removal. In addition to treatments, Ever/Body also offers a full line of curated skincare products. What market does Ever Body target and how big is it?
The cosmetic dermatology market is expected to exceed $125B by 2028, so it’s a fast-growing market that is becoming increasingly more accessible as the stigma around the practice is lessening. Our customers run the gambit in relation to age and gender.
What’s your business model?
We’re a tech-based business with a focus on hospitality and best-in-class client experience. We’re focused on education and enhancing our client experience with our expert providers.
How has COVID-19 impacted the business??
In the pandemic, Ever/Body did close but our technology enabled us to quickly launch Ever/Body Live during the pandemic, which also helped with market research as we got to see who was logging on and from where. Ever/Body Live also allows us to address skincare questions or treatment consultations virtually to limit the time in our space, which ultimately builds a pipeline of future clients.
What was the funding process like?
We had great momentum from the very beginning. We were so excited to have Tiger step into the lead early in the process and the rest unfolded with great success.
What are the biggest challenges that you faced while raising capital?
Fortunately, we didn’t really face many challenges during our raise. We had a fantastic round with a “best in class” group of investors. We are proud and ready to put this capital to excellent use.
What factors about your business led your investors to write the check?
We are a tech-led business with the highest level of expertise and a focus on best-in-class service. We also have top talent who are experienced pros in every role in the company. What advice can you offer companies in New York that do not have a fresh injection of capital in the bank?
Focus on doing a few things well. We are very disciplined about not taking on too much and executing with excellence.
Where do you see the company going now over the near term?
Our business is booming. Each month is bigger than the next. We’re seeing new clients of all ages and our business with men has increased 50% since reopening after the pandemic closure. We are targeting to open 20 locations in the next five years. We will focus on Metro NY as a first step.
What’s your favorite outdoor dining restaurant in NYC?
Since the pandemic, we have stayed close to home in the UWS for our outdoor dining. I am a vegan and am lucky enough to live near Blossom on the Upper West Side. We also go to The Smith at Lincoln Center and Lokal, a Mediterranean restaurant in our neighborhood.
