According to a recent SEC filing, tZero, the blockchain trading platform and technology company founded by Overstock.com founder Patrick Byrne, has raised $8.1M in funding.

 


This week, we published the AlleyWatch 2017 New York Venture Capital Funding Analysis that takes a comprehensive look at all startup funding activity in New York in 2017.

 


Thinkful, the career-focused online bootcamp for learning coding and data science, has raised $9.6M in Series A funding from investors that include FLOODGATE, Tribeca Venture Partners, and Owl Ventures. Founded by Daniel Friedman and Darrell Silver in 2012, the company has now raised a total of $16M over three funding rounds.

 


CloudLex, the cloud platform for plaintiff personal injury law firms, has raised $4M in Series B funding from investors that include Aligned Partners and Axis Capital Partners. Founded by Dev Shrotri and Sudhir Shrotri in 2015, the company has now raised a total of $7.7M over two funding rounds.

 


YieldStreet, the funding platform for asset-backed alternative investments, has raised an additional $12.8M Series A funding in addition to a $100M debt facility funding. The company was founded by Dennis Shields, Michael Weisz, and Milind Mehere in 2015.

 


This week, we also took a look at funding activity for NYC and national startups during the month of December – The December 2017 NYC Venture Capital and Early Stage Funding Report


Petal, the no-fee credit card for those without established credit histories, has raised $13M in Series A funding from investors that include Great Oaks Venture Capital, RiverPark Ventures, Valar Ventures, Brooklyn Bridge Ventures, Rosecliff Ventures, Abstract Ventures, New Ground Ventures, Afore Capital, The Social Entrepreneurs Fund, Third Prime Capital, Story Ventures, Ride Ventures, and The Gramercy Fund. The company founded by Andrew Endicott, David Ehrich, Jack Arenas, and Jason Gross in 2016 has now raised a total of $16.6M over two funding rounds.

 


Harver, the platform specializing in pre-hiring talent assessments, has raised $4.2M in funding from Insight Venture Partners. Founded by Dutch native Barend Raaff in 2013, the company has now raised a total of $14.02M over three funding rounds.

 


According to a recent SEC filing, Team Labs, the employee spending and tracking platform founded by Andrew Hoag in 2016, has raised $2.8M in funding. Rick Smith of LA-based Crosscut Venture is listed as a Director.

 


According to a recent SEC filing, firstAI (previously known as Syndicated Loans Direct and a gradate of the Techstars Fintech accelerator),the company that uses machine intelligence to extrapolate data into databases in the financial services space, has raised $2.4M in additional funding. Founded by Angela LaVigne and Shaheen Kanda in 2016, the company has now raised a total of $5.8M over three rounds of funding. Investors in previous rounds are ValueStream Ventures and Frank Sica of Tailwind Capital.
