Ando, the lunch delivery service started by Momofuku chef David Chang, has been acquired by Uber Eats. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. According to the company website, Ando is shuttering operations effectively immediately. The startup had failed to scale into all neighborhoods in the city and into other locales. This is the first reported acquisition for Uber Eats. Consolidation in the Foodtech space continues.
Chang founded the startup in 2016 and the company had raised $7M in a single round from investors that include BoxGroup, Correlation Ventures, Brendan Wallace, Otter Rock Capital, Wildcat Venture Partners, Neil Blumenthal, Abdur Chowdhury, Elizabeth Cutler, Jimmy Fallon, Aziz Ansari, Forerunner Ventures, Andy Katz-Mayfield, Dick Boyce, and William Laudera.
