Tell us about the product or service.
CapGenius works as a simple search engine generating on-demand results and publishing them through a mobile keyboard. This allows users to instantly search for captions, find relevant content, and post to social media and messaging platforms. CapGenius also acts as a tool for brands and companies to connect directly with target demographics through specialized categories that contain social media tags aimed at procuring engagement.
How is it different?
Our mobile keyboard can be used anywhere you use your normal QWERTY keyboard. Other keyboards in our space can only be used across a few applications whereas CapGenius can be used in Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Emails, Text Messages, Dating Apps, and many more keyboard enabled functions.
What market are you attacking and how big is it?
We are attacking an incredibly large market of over 2 billion daily active users between Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. This isn’t even including content users for text messages, emails, and dating applications.
What is the business model?
Our platform allows brands to connect directly with their ideal target demographic by curating the creative content in their brand specific category. When a brand curates a specific category we are able to include social media tags that engage our users back to the companies owning each specific category.
What inspired the business?
Josh Miller and I (founders) met in 2008 and formed a quick bond sharing an aptitude for business and brand development. CapGenius was conceived on an ordinary day as Josh and I witnessed the circadian struggle to come up with a good caption first-hand. We quickly realized that in this digital dilemma was an opportunity and thus CapGenius was born.
How is your product and business defensible?
Capgenius is protected by trademarks, pending patents and copyright applications.
What are the milestones that you plan to achieve within six months?
We are well on our way of achieving our 6-month goal of 250K downloads.
If you could be put in touch with anyone in the New York community who would it be and why?
We would love to be put in touch with a media group like ABC, CBS or UMG. We have the unique opportunity to curate unlimited content across unlimited categories and one of those companies would stand to benefit most from CapGenius.
Why did you launch in New York?
We launched in New York because of the incredible opportunity to network. I’d like to think that one of the main reasons we have been successful thus far is because of the incredible network we have surrounded ourselves with. We have been able to bring together incredible marketing partners, designers, developers and content writers just through the people we have met and networked with in New York.
