Today, I take a look at the state of venture capital and angel funding during the all of August, both in New York and nationally. Analyzing some publicly available data from our friends at CrunchBase, we break down the national aggregate statistics for all funding deals by stage of funding(Angel/Seed, Series A, Series B, and Series C+, and venture rounds that were not specified).
Quick Takeaways:
Funding for August, traditionally the slowest month of the year was rather robust with just under $400M in announced funding across 66 deals in NYC. Funding nationally was up 33% during the month. NYC shined in Series A rounds during the month taking 22% of the funding. Series B rounds in NYC continued to be scarce as only two fundings were announced. Nationally, later stage rounds were up quite a bit from July levels showing a 72% uptick.
