PeopleDoc, the HR Cloud service, has announced a $28M Series C round of funding by Kernel Investissements, Alven Capital, Accele Venture Partners and Eurazeo. Founders, Jonathan Benhamou and Clément Buyse, have now raised a total of $47.48M.

Thrillist, the media company, has announced a new investment of $54M from German hot-on-a-New-York-media-company-buying-spree, Axel Springer. In conjunction with the funding, Thrillist announced that it will be separating its ecommerce arm, JackThreads into a separate entity.

Farmigo, the company that lets you order fresh farm foods to your table, has announced a $16M Series B round by Sherbrooke Capital, Benchmark and Formation 8. Founders Benzi Ronen and Yossi Pik have raised a total of $26M over 3 rounds.

Paintzen, the e-commerce painter’s platform, has raised $7.2M in a Series A round of funded by Bullpen Capital. This is their 4th round of funding.

This week, the New York Tech community came together for a good cause and to celebrate the one and only Kelly Hoey’s 50th birthday. The evening was structured as a roast in honor of the birthday girl and the proceeds of the evening benefitted the YWCA of NYCs Girls Geek Club.

While foreign dignitaries from across the globe created horrific amounts of traffic for New Yorkers congregated at this year’s UN General Assembly session, thought leaders from a broad array of industries and fields assembled at the 92Y for the Social Good Summit to discuss the future of the planet and the world in 2030.
BeneStream, the safe medical aid solution, has raised $2M in a Series A round from investors BlueCross BlueShield Venture Partners and Sandbox Advantage Fund. Founder Benjamin Geyerhahn has now raised $9.59M for his company.
General Assembly, the tech education titan, has raised $70M from Wellington Management and Advance Publications. This brings GA’s total to $119.5M over 5 rounds and we must assume that’s nearing unicorn status although valuation was not disclosed.
Dwellxchange, the real estate equity crowdfunding marketplace, has raised an undisclosed amount for Founder Eric Eckardt.
WorldCover, the investment company that offers insurance for the poor, has raised an undisclosed amount for a Seed Round. This is Christopher Sheehan and Shiliang Tang’s first round.
Thuzio, the company that is connecting your company with celebrities, has announced a Series B round of $7M. RSE Ventures, Vanterra Capital, Stephen Ross, and Prudence Holdings were the investors in this latest round for Mark Gerson and Tiki Barber’s company.
