Opinions are like… Yeah, well, everyone’s got one, about something or other. The media loves to publish opinion polls, but seriously, who are they querying? People with landlines? In this day and age? Seriously.
Voice (from Poutsch) is a social polling app that allows anyone to quickly create and share surveys amongst a socially active community of opinion makers. Want to know what people around the globe are really thinking? Get online. And Voice makes it easy. Co-founder Melchior Schöller tells us how he really feels…
Tell us about the product or service.
Voice is the best way to give and gather opinions.
How is it different?
Opinion polls are boring, expensive, not real-time and are not even representative. Voice is making opinion polls fun, powerful and accessible to all.
Our polls are not only available on https://voice.ee, they can also be embedded anywhere in the web, exactly like a YouTube video.
What market are you attacking and how big is it?
The market of opinion polls and market research was worth $10bn in 2012. It’s growing because it becomes more and more complicated to separate the signal from the noise. This market is far from “digitalized”… we’re still sending people to the street to conduct opinions polls…
What is the business model?
Some of our users need to collect large amounts of opinions. We help them boost their polls.
What are the milestones that you plan to achieve within 6 months?
We’d like to hit a billion opinions expressed within the next 6 months.
If you could be put in touch with one investor in the New York community who would it be and why?
I think Steve Schlafman from RRE is doing a pretty good job at connecting with the community. We’ve already had some great advice from him. We’d love to get more.
Why are you launching in New York?
We are based here because it’s a great tech ecosystem. For those of us with European roots, it feels like the middle.
Mets or Yankees?
I am not into baseball but I love basketball so here is my answer…
