Today, I take a look at the state of venture capital and angel funding during the month of April, both in New York and nationally. Analyzing some publicly available data from our friends at CrunchBase, we break down the national aggregate statistics for all funding deals by stage of funding (Angel/Seed, Series A, Series B, and Series C+). NYC’s funding landscape recovered from two consecutive dismal months. Later stage funding returned to the city’s startups with strong rounds for SeatGeek and Zeta Global. The seed stage in NYC was largely influenced by one round that totaled $36M, which also affected NYC’s whopping 36% share of total US funding during the month.
